Two new contests posted in the contest widget on the group's front page

We are currently 897 members strong and have 1784 watchers.

We have 6 admin voting on submittions; it takes 3 votes for something to be approved, or disapproved, for entry into the gallery folders. So if something was rejected, it was by majority vote, not the decision of a single person. So asking "Why?" something was rejected depends on those who voted "No", please remember this when asking. And if it is rejected, it means THREE people feel it does not fit the group's gallery and there is no arguing it. Also, take in mind, that if the item doesn't fit, it will be turned down. WE ONLY TURN THINGS DOWN IF THEY DON'T FIT. Read next paragraph if that needs clarification.


I'd like to remind you to have a look at the rules we have here at #darkelements when joining [or if you even need a refresher] ...remember that not any deviation with a shade of black is accepted! NOR death, zombies, blood, guts, b&w photography, doom, gloom, etc.... NOR do we accept any artwork that is cartoonish or has too much of an anime feel. JUST BECAUSE YOU SUBMIT IT DOES NOT MEAN IT WILL BE AUTOMATICALLY APPROVED. Only half of what's submitted is actually approved.....and ALOT of that has to do with so many submittions have NOTHING to do with the club what-so-ever.

There is a contest widget on the group's front page. So if any of you, our members and affiliates, are having contests, let me [*Poetic-Dragon] know thru a note to the group and I will take care of it ASAP. Please include the theme of the contest and when it ends, so that I may organize it by end dates. Widget is up and waiting for info.



Gallery folders have been created instead of EVERYTHING going into the featured folder. They are all now open for accepting deviations, but remember, we the admin still have to vote before it is actaully finally placed within the folder. While each folder has it limit, as a whole, you can submit up to 13 items a week if you follow the rules for each folder! A contest folder will be created when and if we hold a contest, but whenever we held contests in years past, the lack of submittions was disheartening. The folders are as follows:

Featured The limit allowed is only one per week per person! The limit has been set in the "Manage Members" area by myself. So try as you might, you can't submit more than one thing a week there! Please, ONLY submit your best stuff there! Even if it does somehow get voted in by the admin of the club, it will be periodically gone over to make sure that it is only showcasing a good variety of our members' best items. Any form of dark art may be submitted to it.

Digital Art The limit is set to 3 per week per person! This is for your digital artwork: digital drawing, digital painting, photomanipulations, etc... We are trusting you to place the correct things here, but it too will be periiodically glanced over to make sure the contents are correct.

Tradional Art The limit is set to 3 per week per person! This is for your traditional artwork: drawing, painting, etc... We are trusting you to place the correct things here, but it too will be periiodically glanced over to make sure the contents are correct.

Photography The limit is set to 3 per week per person! This is for your dark photos, whether by traditional camera or digital, all photography goes here. We are trusting you to place the correct things here, but it too will be periiodically glanced over to make sure the contents are correct.

Literature The limit is set to 3 per week per person! This is for your dark poetry and prose. We are trusting you to place the correct things here, but it too will be periiodically glanced over to make sure the contents are correct.














The rules stay the same as they have for years now:


JUST because you have joined the club doesn't mean you can submit any and everything. It must fit the club AND it must be of good quality. Also, if it's unoriginal and there are already several things very similar to what you've submitted in the gallery, do not expect it to be accepted. And just because it has to do with death or is black/dark colored, don't expect it to be automatically accepted. If it is not obviously fit the club, it will not be accepted. So no whining. Us becoming a group HAS NOT changed the rules.


Please respect the artists and their works that they have chosen to display in the group's gallery. If we find out about anyone being disrespectful, you will be removed from the group and blocked. This also applies to people mouthing off to the admin of the group!


Please pay attention to your submissions: they MUST fit the club's features...that is, they must contain DARK ELEMENTS. Also, please make sure it is in the correct folder!


Folder limits have been set in the admin's area, so you can't exceed the maximum of 3 deviations per week per folder!


We do NOT accept works that are not Photorealistic, that are too "computer generated", with low quality, sketches and mangas/anime/cartoonish!


Remember that the Admin have the right to reject your deviation if they think it does not fit he club!


IF you choose to remove anything from the gallery, it is your choice and since you submitted it, it must be removed by yourself. We will not wade thru our huge gallery to do to for you. If you wish to leave the group, you can do so yourself. You do not have to ask us or tell us.

_{On a side note, though it says Shal is founder of the group, I AM the head admin of this group. She had internet access while clubs where being converted to groups if the admin submitted it. I didn't have a working computer [and thus internet] at the time, so she was awesome enough to submit the club for group convertion. This meant that dA put her as founder and me as co-founder. Shal and I talk about ALL big decisions within the group before coming to a final decision. This includes blocking anyone we find not following rules or being abusive in someway to anyone in the group.}
